How to check a used golf club listing
A practical checklist for matching the club, checking photos and comparing the full purchase cost.
Two listings with similar names can describe different clubs. Before comparing prices, confirm the release, the actual equipment included and its condition. An attractive asking price alone does not establish value.
Start with the exact release
- Match the full model name, including variants such as Max, Plus, Tour or LS. Do not assume the same family name means the same head.
- Confirm the club type and generation using the seller’s specifications and photos. A model name may be reused across years.
- Check whether the offer is a complete club, a head only, an individual iron or an iron set. Count the actual clubs included; bags and headcovers are not clubs.
Check the configuration
- Confirm right or left hand, loft or club number, shaft model, flex and length.
- For iron sets, list each included iron and wedge. Compare like-for-like set makeup.
- If a detail is missing or conflicts with a photo, ask the retailer before purchasing. A catalog match does not certify every listing detail.
Read the photos and condition description together
Check whether photos show the actual item or a representative product. Look for clear views of the face, sole, crown or cavity, shaft and grip. A condition label from one retailer may not mean the same thing at another; read the grading description and any item-specific damage notes.
Compare the full purchase cost and terms
Review shipping, applicable tax, return eligibility, return costs and any exclusions at checkout. Confirm the current price and stock at the retailer. ClubGauge records the observation time because listings can change or sell out.
About affiliate links
Some retailer links may earn ClubGauge a commission. Affiliate links are disclosed where offers appear. Commission does not determine the ClubGauge estimate or listing order. Always make the final purchase decision using the retailer’s current product details and terms.
