How to recognise the 2017 P790
TaylorMade's hollow-body, SpeedFoam-filled forged players-distance iron, released on a roughly two-year cycle since 2017.
- Full 'TaylorMade' script wordmark on the lower back of the cavity (later generations use only the 'T' logo)
- 'P·790' in a dark-filled angular badge across the upper back, with 'TUNGSTEN' printed on the toe side below the window insert
- Rectangular white/silver-framed window insert near the toe on the upper back, beside the toe screw port
- Hollow-body, SpeedFoam-filled forged head with chrome/satin finish; iron number stamped on the toe

2025 · 5th generation
- 'P·790' badge moved to the centre of the back, on a mirrored polished bar spanning the head (2021/2023 had it on the heel side)
- No prominent 'TUNGSTEN' text on the back; cleaner, P770-like badging
- Tour Satin Scratch finish with a machined texture etched beneath the P·790 logo
